We are First Light Wilderness Therapy and we are on a mission to drive teen and young adult

anxiety, depression, and suicide from all time highs of today to all-time lows by 2028.

We specialize in treating struggles associated with adoption, trauma, anxiety, and addiction.

We do this in the in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, where nature provides peace and healing.

 

We are seeking a Registered Nurse that are passionate to help struggling teens by doing life alongside them in the wilderness.   Our Nurses play a very important role serving as a positive role model for teens 12-17 years old and for assisting in the therapeutic process of healing. 

You will lead and support to ensure:

  • Keep team apprised of student needs and potential concerns with care
  • Maintaining lines of communication with all stakeholders (students, parents, medical personnel, staff and vendors)
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of student medial needs to meet treatment goals to include accompanying student to medical appointments
  • Support the implementation of experiential learning
  • Track outcome compliance of licensure, accreditation, and insurance.
  • Follow infection control and medication administration protocols.

  • Be a natural leader with excellent leadership, communication, and problem solving skills
  • Be detail oriented and great at documenting health progress
  • Be passionate about helping teens learn and heal
  • Be able to maintain healthy boundaries to role model healthy communication

Other Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years or older 
  • Current nursing license (LPN or RN) to practice nursing in the state of Georgia
  • Maintain current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of standard medical terminology and technique.
  • Knowledge of legal charting procedure and requirements.
  • Knowledge of medications and procedure for medication administration.
  • Ability to check vital signs.
  • Skill in using nursing tools and equipment (e.g., needles, thermometers, diagnostic tests, stethoscope, blood pressure cuffs, etc.)
  • Skill in assessing the physical condition of the students.
  • Skill in communicating medical situations accurately to students, parents, and co-workers.
  • Ability to use word processing software and to navigate networks.
  • Experience or knowledge of health insurance submission processes.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50+ pounds for extended durations
  • Must be able to pass a Background Criminal Investigation
  • Must possess a valid Drivers License and good driving record
  • Must pass a pre-employment offer physical
